Open Source

I am a proponent of open-sources software, open curricular materials, and open access publication of research.

The reasons are simple:

  1. Mathematics is for everyone. Knowledge and understanding belong to us all.
  2. I am a public employee. My work is supported by the citizens of Iowa, so it should belong to them.

Keep in mind that there are good mathematical software tools which are open source:

I have not yet been brave enough to grow a huge beard and try some version of Linux.
